Enjoying Andalusia by bike (easy to intermediate)

Between the provinces of Málaga and Cádiz, set in dreamy landscapes of interwoven peaks and valleys, you will find the “Pueblos Blancos” (White Villages) of the Ronda and Grazalema Mountains.
These villages constitute gems of popular Andalusian architecture, lodged between the deep green of their valleys and the rocky grey of the mountains. Biking through Spains pueblos blancos where every village is similar but so different. We cover small distances, as it is about enjoying the way and nature, have time to stop for a coffee or glass of wine with some tapas made of fresh local products. Every night we stay in a different village and get to know local life. We won’t cycle on main roads, but through villages and quiet roads in a relaxed pace. And we also have time to spend a day in Sevilla and Granada, both typical Andalusian towns with a great history and loads to see!

Trips program

Day 1  meeting in Sevilla and visit the town

We will arrive in Seville and enjoy an amazing Andalusian town. The capital and jewel in the region’s cultural crown. A rich blend of cultures and historical phases goes into every detail of the magnificent Mudéjar architecture, into every note of the flamenco guitar, and infuses the animated nightlife that spills from bars and bodegas, invigorating the plazas and narrow cobbled streets of the city.
As a small group, we share the simple pleasures of Seville: lingering over coffee, discovering local bodegas, and enjoying the city as it comes alive in the evening. Here, culture isn’t something you rush through—it’s something you feel, moment by moment, in the warmth, the music, and the welcoming Andalusian spirit.

Day 2 transfer to Ronda and time to visit

Today we take the bus to Ronda and spend the day discovering this remarkable town, perched dramatically above a deep river gorge that divides it in two. We take our time wandering through its historic streets and admire the breathtaking views from the bridges that connect the old and new towns.

Ronda is home to one of the world’s oldest bullrings, now only a museum, offering insight into the town’s past without the spectacle. With a relaxed pace and plenty of free moments, we enjoy the simple pleasures of being here together—starting the day, of course, with a classic café con leche y churros, the perfect Andalusian breakfast.

Day 3 Ronda – Setenil de las Bodegas by bike, ca 35 km

Our first day of cycling takes us at an easy, unhurried pace toward Setenil de las Bodegas. The route winds through olive groves, open plains, and fields of cereal crops and sunflowers, offering a gentle introduction to the Andalusian countryside and plenty of moments to stop, look around, and enjoy the ride.

Setenil is unlike anywhere else—a town where the streets feel like caves, built directly beneath the dramatic overhangs of the Río Trejo gorge. Here, massive rock formations form natural roofs for homes, some rising three stories high, creating a truly unique atmosphere. We end the day the best way possible: sharing tapas and a glass of wine, soaking in the character of this extraordinary place.

Day 4 Setenil – Olvera 22 km

We leave Setenil behind and continue our journey toward Olvera, riding through gently rolling countryside and passing a handful of small villages along the way. There’s time to stop for lunch and enjoy a typical Spanish café, taking in the easy rhythm of daily life as we go.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Olvera, a striking cascade of whitewashed houses that appear to spill down the hillside beneath a restored Moorish-era castle. Perched on a triangular rock, the castle crowns the village and dominates the landscape. For those with a bit of extra energy, climbing the tower’s spiral staircase is well worth the effort, rewarding you with breathtaking, head-spinning views over the village and surrounding countryside.

overnight Olvera

Day 5 Olvera – Zahara 30 km

Today’s ride includes a few rewarding uphill stretches before we finally roll into Zahara de la Sierra, a striking fortified hill village of whitewashed houses topped with red tiles, clustered around a dramatic rocky crag. The effort is well worth it—the setting is unforgettable, with sweeping views over the surrounding landscape.

In the afternoon, we settle into the rhythm of the village. Zahara’s main square is lively and welcoming, the perfect place to unwind after a day of cycling. With a glass of wine in hand, there’s really nothing more to do than sit back, watch local life pass by, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being here together.

overnight Zahara

Day 6 transfer or bike to Grazalema

Today we are transferred to Grazalema, giving us time to slow down and relax in one of the most beautiful villages of the pueblos blancos. Nestled among the mountains, Grazalema is an inviting base for walking and hiking, with its narrow, cobbled streets and the charming Plaza de España at its heart.

Built on the remains of a Roman settlement, Grazalema has a long history and has been known as a center of wool production since the 17th century. With no rush today, there’s space to enjoy the village atmosphere, explore at your own pace, or simply sit back and take in the surroundings.

overnight Grazalema

Day 7 Granada

Today we enjoy a full day in Granada, one of Spain’s most captivating cities. Set at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Granada is a place where layers of history come together in a remarkable blend of Spanish and Islamic culture. The city’s crown jewel, the Alhambra Palace, stands as a masterpiece of Moorish architecture, offering a serene and unforgettable experience.

Wandering through Granada, we discover monumental churches, quiet historic neighborhoods, and traditional tapas bars where local life unfolds naturally. With a relaxed pace and plenty of time to explore, Granada offers the perfect balance of culture, atmosphere, and simple pleasures—an ideal city to linger and enjoy together.
